Minimalist Posters
This is a set of posters created using a visual system based off the Minimalist movement for Graphic Systems, a Graphic Design course I took in Spring Semester 2021.
Research
Sketches
After researching, I decided to focus on very simple shapes, lines and grid systems.
Process
I decided to go with a combination of rectangles, circles and lines for my system. The system had to follow rules. My rules were as follows:
- Use only 2 rectangles, 1 circle and 1 line in each.
- The path of the line crosses over itself once and once only.
- The circles have to be translucent.
- The colors are to be varying combinations of gray, mint green, coral pink, orange and cream.
- The word "Minimalism" has to be included in a corner of the composition.
Final System
After further refinement, I determined that the name of the movement was unnecessary to be included in the compositions themselves. Therefore, I removed the text and finalized my designs.
